I need branding
I need a website
I need a name
Just a girl with a million and one business ideas, that all have killer branding and cute names. That was always my favorite part... that's why for the past 8 years, I've been designing brands and websites for other creatives and small business owners.
But I always knew there needed to be an easier and more affordable way to get a new business idea off the ground... that's why In A Day Co was born.
Hashtags are still one of the best ways to get your content seen on Instagram. With 30 opportunities to go “viral” on every post, having a strong hashtag strategy will seriously up your Instagram game. Don’t have one? Today’s the perfect day to get started, and I’m sharing 50 hashtags for creative entrepreneurs that may just wind you up on the explore page.
This post was originally posted on South & Palm. We are now In a Day.
Before we dive in to the hashtags for creatives list, I wanted to answer some common questions about hashtags for Instagram.
Hashtags are the easiest way to get your content seen on Instagram by users who aren’t already following you. Instagram allows us to use 30 per post. That’s 30 opportunities to get your content seen. New eyes on your content = more engagement and more followers. Win win, right?
Deciding on which hashtags to use is the most important part of your overall hashtag strategy. Look at the hashtags your competitors are using. Use Hashtag apps, look at related hashtags within Instagram or research what hashtags your audience is searching. Once you’ve got an idea for a hashtag to use, the first thing you need to look at is post frequency. How many people are using the hashtag? This is very important. The size of your own account should determine the size of hashtags you want to use. Remember, our goal is to end up on the explore page, and that’s not going to happen if you’re using a hashtag that has been used 20 million times. Unless, of course, you’re Taylor Swift or something.
No! You should always be changing up your hashtags based on the content you are posting. Relevancy of hashtags is more important now than ever. You CAN reuse hashtags, just don’t copy and past the same exact list of hashtags to every single one of your posts. If you do that, your account may get marked as spam and you may see your engagement go down.
You can, but you don’t have to. Again, the most important thing here is relevancy. Do the hashtags you are using actually match the caption you are posting and does that match the photo you are posting? If it doesn’t make since to the Instagram algorithm, the hashtag probably isn’t going to work for you.
I believe this is personal preference. However, if you are posting in the comments, you need to be posting them as quickly as possible after your post goes live, otherwise they could end up being useless.
